Can't start HD channels directly (1 Viewer)

Same symptom: SD channels are fine, but no HD channels are shown.

To me it looks like a different issue. For you no HD channels aren't working and for Spooky the first tune only fails (if the channel is HD).

Not a genereal isssue as huge amount of people can tune "directly" to the HD channels. But still, it likely is a bug in TVE3.

Well, it's not just the first tune. It happens everytime when the TV Server is not tuned to a channel (or just EPG grabbing). (So I mean not just the first tune after a boot or restart of the TV Server.)

In my case, I´m unable to watch any HD channel, even if I try to switch from an non-HD channel (as recorded in the logs).

I don´t want to break Spooky´s thread with my issues, but I just want to mention some similarities that may be help Dev to fix it.

nice to hear from you,tourettes, that this is likely a bug in tve3. in my case ive to stop tv service befor I can tune in a HD channel ( only 1080i channels are affected)

Btw. this problem also affects automatic EPG grabbing. Lately I noticed that my EPG is always empty, even though I configured the TV Server to grab it when idle. I looked in the log files and noticed, that it always starts the EPG grab with the HD channels. But the TV Server can't receive data from those channels. The log shows

which looks like the same PMT timeout value. As you can see in the log, it does this for every HD channel. It trys to grab the EPG but after 10 minutes it aborts it. What's even worse is, that after the TV Server attempts to grab the EPG on those 5 HD channels, it stops grabbing the EPG completely. 240 minutes (the default "Refresh every x mins" value) after the first EPG grabbing attempt the story simply repeats. The TV Server tries to grab EPG on the HD channels, fails and stops completely.

I have now deactivated EPG grabbing for the HD channels temporarely, so that the other channels are grabbed without a problem. Is there any additional information I can provide to get this fixed?

This was a "bug" in TV-server.
the floppy and firedtv support "hardware PID filtering" to reduce the "traffic".
now sadly the TV-Server filtered away the PID where ORF 1 HD (dvb-s2 transponder) and other HD channels broadcast their EPG on.

this PID was simply added to the "exclude list" of the filter, and now EPG is grabbed.

but to get back to the main issue reported here.
i can not confirm it.
i am using here:
Server:

• WinXp SP3 professional
• floppy-dtv-s2 + EasyTV CAM + ORF Smartcard
• floppy-dtv-s2 + AlphyCrypt CAM + ORF Smartcard
• firedtv-dtv-s2 + EasyTV CAM + ORF Smartcard

I am running latest available MP svn. But i did not encounter any tuning issues as you do during the last one year or more.

So i am sorry, but i have no idea what causes your problem.

I don't know if that helps, but it looks similar (PMT timeout).

Yeah, I have know idea what to do. I can replicate this error every time on two different systems (on two different locations in Austria ;P). The systems share similar Hardware and Software (Both with MP 1.0.2, Gigabyte GA-MA78GM, Windows XP 32, FloppyDTV S2) so there must be a common denominator in both systems that cause this problem, in theory.

I tried 1.1.0 Alpha today. 1.1.0 Alpha brought no change, same error. Latest SVN: same error. Alternate TsWriter.ax from that other thread: same error .
