How to get My TV working

    Requirements
-tvcapture card with onboard MPEG2 encoder. For example an Hauppauge PVR 250/350/USB2
    -Windows XP + SP1
-Mediaportal (make sure to get the latest version)

    Setup

First and this is very important. Make sure you install the latest drivers
for your capure card and your video card!!!!

1.)Goto tools->options/My TV and hit the add button
A dialog pops up where you can select your capture card, codecs 2 use
and whether you want to use the card for tv and/or recording.

Make sure you installed an mpeg 2 codec If this codecs listbox is empty you might want to install
    - powerdvd
    - windvd (recommended!!)
    - or this (freeware) mpeg2 codec http://sourceforge.net/projects/gplmpgdec/

Fill in all the options/details and hit OK

2.)Select the correct country in tools->options/mytv
    3.)Select the correct connection (cable/antenna) in tools->options/mytv
-make sure you filled in the TV channel numbers in tools->options/TVGuide

You can leave the frequencies for 0.
This will use the default frequencies for your country
If necessary, you can specify/override the default frequency

4.)if you have still have problems then disable VMR9 in tools->options/general tab

    Hi Frodo,

Could you be more specific as to which Tools/Options in Step 1 above?

Are we in MediaPortal or in the MediaPortal-Setup?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Morten,

The post by Frodo is almost two years old. Within the context of Mediaportal that's quite enough to consider it outdated.

Tools /options is the menu path in mediaportal to open the settings (you won't see it in full screen, only windowed), but you can just as well start the settings directly.
If you've got problems with tuning (as I understood from one of your posts), you may want to read trough our Wiki, especially the manual TV setup page
If it doesn't work after that tips, just start a topic in Installation support (read the stickies there first for support templates etc.)
