cards not working simultaneously (1 Viewer)

ok, so i have a problem with my dvb-s cards. one is a twinhan 878 and the other is a hauppauge 3000. the twinhan works fine until the hauppauge tuner starts receiving a feed and all off a sudden i cannot access any channels mapped to the twinhan card anymore and i just get the error message "no signal". this only happens when i change to a channel mapped to the hauppauge card. If i only watch channels mapped to the twinhan i do not get this problem. for some reason he two cards will not work together.

is there a way for mp to stop one card trying to pass power?

ANY IDEAS ANYONE?

sounds like you dont have a splitter with dual power pass through? i.e when it switches cards no power is supplied to LNB?

thanks for response mastyman, but it is a power pass on all ports splitter. its as though once the hauppauge card passes power the twinhan card ceases to work

ok, but as a test you could switch the rg6 cables around on the cards to rule out a problem with the splitter, cabling etc and retest, if it behaves exactly the same way with the 2 tuners then you can atleast rule that side out

but mainly

change Logging level's to Debug

you should close MP, reopen MP, reproduce the problem, close MP and then post the logs directorys so people can have a look at what is really happening.

I guess you will need to post logs from Mediaportal and Mediaportal TV Server directories

Also how come you dont have all channels mapped to both cards? why some on 1 and some on another if i can ask?

Hi there

I am guessing that the conflicting channels are on transponders with opposite polarities. Vertical transponders (eg. SBS, Optus D2) are selected with 13V. Horizontal transponders (eg. Sky, Freeview) are selected with 18V. Your all-ports-power-pass splitter will pass the highest voltage to the LNB, so if you are trying to watch a channel on a horizontal transponder using the Hauppauge while trying to watch a channel on a vertical transponder using the Twinhan, the Hauppauge tuner will "win" and both tuners will only be able to tune to channels from horizontal transponders...

Now, in making that answer I have made quite a number of assumptions. If I'm right then you need something like this. It will allow you to watch horizontal channels from one satellite at the same time as vertical channels from another. The limitation is that you can't watch horizontal and vertical channels from the same satellite (ie. SBS and Freeview/Sky) unless you have a dual output LNB like this. If I'm wrong then please ignore what I said and post your TV Serve logs.
