CD Cover art. Doing it manually my self ? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys really simple question I hope. I'm just sorting all my music before my new HTPC can be put in its home for the forseeable and I'm having issues with cover art. Most of the time I get no art found and have to just leave it blank. Is there any way that I can choose the cover art outside of MP in the config ? like the DB editor for films ? I have had a look but I can't see a way to put my own cover art in. I'll just get a pic from a site and use that. Most of the ones that are not finding one are Compilations, but I have a few that are new in the last 2/3 monts that show as 'Unknown'

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is the last thing I have to do before I can sit back and enjoy Media Portal

In MP Config. Movie Database. Editor - you will see a row of selections under the "Title" field ... the first being Title... the last being Coverart. Your can search for images from the on-line movie databases or browse your computer for an image... I just did the same thing for a number of my DVDs... where the images in the internet databases weren't the ones I was looking for, did an image search in google for the cover art and copied that to my desktop, then browsed to my desktop to load the image into my movie database. There were a couple I had to scan in myself.

Thanks for that. Mayb my OP was all over the place i'll take a look. Movies are fine I worked that out. The editor is great but there isn't one for music. So how do I get cover art for my Albums that the find cover art thing in MP can't find.

You just put the album Art into the album folder as folder.jpg (or ,png whichever) or your music file might be able to be tagged with the album art when you rip it... either way MP can do it. I prefer the folder image, so I can put a clean scan in place of, many times, poorly scanned or too small of images.. I try to keep them about 300 to 500 pixels square.

A lot of answers can be found using the forum search function as well.

Use something like Softpointers 'Tag & Rename' package to download the cover art. (there are others)
Save the cover are as folder.jpg AND save it into the tags themselves...

I've used Tag and Rename for quite some time... compliments Media Monkey (which I use for ripping and organizing). But occasionally the internet data bases just don't yield a proper image, so you must resort to scanning one in or searching the net. I have a number of indie and obscure cds that just aren't in any database, so Tag and Rename has rescued me more than once.

If you activate the last.fm and scrobbler plugin and set it up with your last.fm account login data, MP will search for album covers and artist pictures as you play the songs (no batch process). Might be quite successful for indie music.

Thank's TomTom. I did notice the last.fm thing but have just signed up to it and enabled that and scrobbler. I should automatically get the cover art ? or what is it I have todo. Sorry for the more than likely silly question but about 10 mins ago was the first time I have ever seen last.fm and scrobbler.
