I have a proposal to make the plugin a little bit better (...i hope, you think in the same way...).
I know, that it's a very personal perception to define, what a better an what a not so likable structure ist.
This is my point of view, maybe other people would find the actual structure better.

Ripped files are being saved in the default directory,
for example in e:\music\...

The plugin saves the files in a new directory, name by the following rule : ARTIST - ALBUM,
for example in e:\music\Pink Floyd - Another brick in the wall\...

My proposal ist, to save the files into TWO directories, the first for the ARTIST, the second for the ALBUM,
for example in e:\music\Pink Floyd\Another brick in the wall\...

So you can collect several albums of the same artist in ONE directory.
In my opinion, albums would be clearlier arranged.

So, many thanks for redesign ;-)
(if the developper agree's with me...)

eb1965, I second that. Hierarchies are good ^^

I would much rather have an Artist folder with Album folders in it. Perhaps make it an option?

Thank you for a nice plugin.

    Hi

This is great plugin but some important features were missing so here is modified version. I just made this based on my needs and never considered to publish this but... hopefully author doesn't mind (source available soon).

    Main changes:
    - cover art grabbing
    - hierarchical directory structure setting: artist/album or artist - album
    - several error handling enhancements
    - target path setting
    - status of total progress

    Cons:
    - only Monochrome skin xml included
    - no quality settings

    Cheers,
    /m

    Cannot change output folder

Hi, I have a problem using the plugin. The first time I ran it, it asked me about output directory. I accidentally set it to E:\ (I seem to have an over-sensitive remote...), which is my CD-drive. When I try to rip a CD, it reports that access to the output directory is denied, obviously. And I cannot find out where to change it. Any tips?

You'll need to open up MediaPortal.xml and remove the section named cdslayer. That file is, for windows xp, in C:\Program Files\Team Mediaportal\Mediaportal" and for vista, C:\ProgramData\Team Mediaportal\.

That section will look something like this:

    <section name="CDSlayer">
    <entry name="target">E:\</entry>
    </section>

I promised to provide the source of these mods and here it is.

Here is also new version with more internal checkings and error recovery added. Also this will use MP's internal core functions for FreeDb queries and ripping (these were almost the same anyway). Benefits are that user can now select if multiple hits were found. And not to mention that corrections to these core functions will benefit this plugin also. So you can now delete Freedb.dll and Ripper.dll from the folder where this will be installed.

One annoying thing was that if album data were missing it ripped without any user confirmation - this and some other 'features' are now covered.

If there is someone willing to help as providing skin files that would be awesome.

    Cheers,
    /m

P.S. I don't want to steal this plugin from original author so use the source as you wish

P.P.S. Installer version added for easy living :p (updated with Psycho Reptile's xml) :D

looks great Manfred !! ill try it later. btw, how is it supposed to be installed? just replace the originals?

or can you create a mpi installer? and make it official? if original author agrees.

Manfred: nice new features. Thank You. Just have a few problems installing it:

    1. First time I had installed the original cdslayer first. that didn´t work. I always got an call to an undefinded object...

    2. I uninstalled both versions and I also removed any entry to cdslayer in mediaportal.xml and installer/config.xml. Then I installed only v 0.6c. Now MP crashes, as i hit the "rip" button...

what i noticed is, that there is no section called cdslayer in the mediaportal.xml any more....

p.s.: I used the mpi-file for installing. I had to start it from the filesystem, because I wasnt able to start it from within MP. That worked. Is that way to do it correct? Automatically uninstalling was not possible.
