I know the current database setup only allows 1 person (or program whatever) to read/write at a time. Is there plans to move all databases (movies, folders, music, etc...) to use MS 2005 SQL server? I would really like to see this because i've got 2 MP computers (planning on adding 1 more) and it would be nice to share the databases. I dont know much about C# but how hard would it be to change that? I'm guessing it's not just a few lines to change to tell it to go to SQL 05 instead of the current setup.

Thanks

Keith

You can move the databases to a central server, check out this wiki post
    UserGuides/CentralisedDatabases - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation

Works well, I have had no problems, don't tend to use the clients in all the rooms in the house at the same time, but i think you would be unlucky to get a db lock.

I think (but don't quote me!) that v2 will be using all MS SQL datbases, like the TVserver does now.

Officially supported Central DB will not be integrated into MP1. MP2 I am unsure about.

I have often thought about writing a plugin to store all info into MSSQL or MySQL but seems too much work compared to current work around. Limitations of local DB being read at startup and the plugin updating after startup - thus requiring a restart for changes to local DB be recognised.

Please note that I am having an issue where the first time I boot a machine , although the netowrk is available, it resorts to a local copy of the databases. I have to restart MP1 to get central DB's to work(this is based on wiki guide).....

Have you found a solution for this? I'm having the exact same problem. Everytime after reboot, resume from standby or hibernate MP reverts to the local databases.
