I found several posts asking how to change the IP address or how to set to the system name, but none provided enough detail to really answer the question.

If anyone knows of a post where this process is defined, please let me know.

More to the point, other than deinstalling and reinstalling TV Server, how can I change the IP address for TV Server?

Hi,
give a look to this post:

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/msloopback-device-singleseat-users-51028/

It talks about loopback adapter, but explains how to change TVServer IP address.

Hope it helps

Thank you. It is a step in the right direction. This is the second post that indicates I should be able to change it with a SQL Server program, but all I have is SQL Server Configuration Manager, not the noted Managment Studio Express. I'll have to look for this on a MS website, probably.

[UPDATE]

With the help of Cybertex, I was able to figure out how to change the TV Server IP address, as follows:

1) Loaded SQL Server Management Studio Express 2005 since I did not have this program. I only had the Configuration tools.

2) Open Studio Express and navigate as follows:
- Connect using defaults ([your PC name]\SQLEXPRESS and use Windows Authentication)
- Expand "Databases", expand "MpTvDb", expand "Tables"
- Right click on "dbo.Server" and select "OpenTable"
- Change entry under "hostName" to new value - I tried "my PC name" and 127.0.0.1 (which represents localhost). Both worked.
- Restart TVService.exe using Alt/Ctrl/Del and then ending the process

3) Open "Media Portal Configuration"
- Click on "Plug-ins" and select "FTR", "Configuration" then "Test Connection". It should be successful.
- "OK" to save and exit.

4) Open "TV Server Configuration"
- Expand "TV Servers" and you should see the new name or IP address
- Expand the new IP or name and you should see your tuner(s) - The type should be filled in, not "unknown"
- Click on "TV Channels". You should see your channels. Select one, then select "Preview". In several seconds a window with live TV content should open.
- Expand "Plugins" and select "FTR Recorder/Tuner". Select "(Re) Connect Now" - probably not a necessary step but I figure no harm.
- "OK" to save and exit.

5) Open "For The Record Management Console" and select "Connect" (I use default "localhost", "TCP" "49942").
- Select "Recorder/Tuners" under "Administration"
- Select "Ping" - This should test successfully

6) Open "MediaPortal" and check to make sure the TV Guide and live TV is working properly.

7) It is also a good idea to hover the cursor over "FTR Server Status Notifier" icon in the taskbar next to the clock in the lower right corner of the screen to see if the provided status makes sense.

If all of this works then you can be reasonably sure that the IP address was changed correctly.
