Changed PC name, now can't connect to TV Server (1 Viewer)

I've changed the name of the computer MP is running on from pc to P4 and it's caused it to stop working. I've had the SQL database window up, which allowed me to change it to P4 and that connected and saved OK, but TV Server config still shows pc and it obviously can't connect to that. Where else do I need to go to change it?

I've updated to 1.0.2 and ran TV Server config after that, which again bought up the SQL database window which worked again but it still shows pc in TV Server config and can't connect.

Could it be that a windows service, related to SQL, is not started?
It can be tricky to change the computer name of a 'server'.
Does it work when you change it back?

I'm not familiar with SQL but maybe someone else can comment on this.

I think it's more that some config file related to MP was still using the old name "PC", as that was still what was shown in TV Server config.

Anyway, I've re-installed XP and MP now so I'll just avoid changing the name in future

Fine changing name, just do it when XP\Vista first installed

SQL management express is good for doing these kind of things as well, dbo.server is where the name is stored, you need to change the login to mixed mode, so you can put in the "sa" and "MediaPortal" for access to the MpTvDb.

Hope that helps, just in case you decide to have a memory lapse and change it in the future

The computer name is stored in the SQL Server's metadata. Renaming the computer does not change this.

If you have renamed PC1 running an instance of SQL Server named SQLEXPRESS to PC2, create a new query i SQL Management Studio, and run the following procedures:

sp_dropserver 'PC1\SQLEXPRESS'

sp_addserver 'PC2\SQLEXPRESS', local


Then restart the instance of SQL Server.
