When watching HD content, it's usually ideal to use refresh rate of 24Hz.
ATI Catalyst drivers have support to change the display profile (and refresh rate in that way) for example with hotkeys.
However, if I start up Mediaportal with my default profile (refresh rate 50Hz) and then use a hotkey to change to 24Hz profile, the screen flashes to black like it should but the effects of the change cannot be seen when playing video. 24Hz profile is correctly selected if I close MP and check my display settings. Then, if I start up MP again everything is working as it should.
So, why is restart of Mediaportal required? Is there any way to get around of restarting?
I have noticed this same behavior too with different graphics card (Intel) and Powerstrip profile changing.
EDIT 1: Disabling VMR9 exclusive mode solves this problem but it's not an option for me because then I get tearing. The big question is, how does the exclusive mode interfere with refresh rate change? As my understanding, when I change refresh rate when video is _not_ playing (as I always would), we shouldn't know anything about exclusive mode at that point.
