Happily watching Channel 7 then needed to switch to 7Two and all I got was a blank screen. When I checked the log it says that the channel is not mapped to either DVBT 5 or 6. Fired up the TV Config screen and sure enough, TV Channels lists all channels as not mapped. OK, went through setting up the TV Servers and then made all channels available, restarted the MP2 service, fired up the MP2 client and tried to watch TV. Blank screens and when I went back to TV Config, it showed all channel "Not Mapped to Card"!!

What am I doing wrong?

The TVServer version that you are running is not the one that is supplied with MP2. The log says:
    [2018-01-30 08:44:52,583] [Log ] [TVService] [INFO ] - TVService v1.9.0 is starting up on Windows 7 ( Service Pack 1 ) [6.1.7601.65536]
This should be 1.18.0 instead. Do you still have old MP1 versions installed? Then make sure that the respective service is deactivated.

    but check entries for 2/2/18.
I did check the most recent TVServer log. It displays version 1.9.0.

MP1 TV Service is still installed but disabled.
The log suggests differently. The server log files are incomplete. There is server.log and server.4.log - 1,2 and 3 are missing so that I can't verify if the plugin gets loaded.

if I open the TV Config, it says 1.18.0.0 but looking at the log, I see what you mean. I installed from MP2-Setup-2.1.3 downloaded 31/1/18. where could it be getting that server from?

That's my point. You are setting up your channels in the correct software - but then a different service is used.

Still the same log set as before with the same files missing.

It very much looks as if you have a version mix-up. I'd think that you are using the 1.9 TV server instead of the plugin. You said that you restarted the MP2 Server service, however, there's no fresh log, which would have been created in that case.So something is really wrong on your system.

What you could easily do is stop all MediaPortal-related Windows services (MP2 Server service, but also look for TVService). The rename the directory Team MediaPortal into something else and install MP2 one more time. Then start the client app and check out Live TV.

did as you requested but nothing happens when I try to "watch now" TV. I then tried to open the TV Config and got a socket exception.

What happens if you restart the MP2 Server service?

What is strange is that the server.log file lacks the standard startup information, i.e. version number, system that it is running on, etc. There should be something like for the client:
