Maybe its an Bug, or maybe its an feature but Channel up+/down- dosn´t work properly.

Create more than one Channel Group

1. Start MP and Go to TV
2. Start TV in Fullscreen ( f.e. Channel 1 / Channel Group 1 )
3. Now you can jump up and down in this channel-group with ch up+/down-. This is correct
4. Now jump to EPG and switch the channel-group to another ( f.e Channel-Group 2 )
5. dont select any other channel
6. jump back to TV
7. if you now press up+/down- the channels are switching, but not in Channel Group 1 wich is actual watched. The channels are switched in the selected group from the EPG ... in this case Channel-Group 2

I would expect that the channel +/- only take can of the watched Channel / Group. But it looks like, that MP remebers that you have switched the Channel-Group ( only for viewing whats next ) and change the channel ( +/- ) in this group.

If needed i can post Logs in the evening, but i think everybody can confirm this.

Maybe its working as expected, but maybe its an bug.

/Daniel

Never a safe assumption. Always post the logs.

I would say it is working as expected. You have changed channel group.

What if a channel is in two different groups? Once you are watching it, and use ch+/ch-, which group do you expect to switch channel in?

    Hi Mark!

I am not sure. In my understanding, i change channel group only, if i watch a channel inside the new group! It is possible, that a user only wants to schedule a recording in the new channel group...![/QUOTE]

    Best regards

"What if a channel is in two different groups? Once you are watching it, and use ch+/ch-, which group do you expect to switch channel in?"

    - this one wich was selected to tune in the channel

"I am not sure. In my understanding, i change channel group only, if i watch a channel inside the new group! It is possible, that a user only wants to schedule a recording in the new channel group...!"

    - aboslutly right. I changed the channel-group in EPG only for checking what is comming next

I thing that changing a channel-group is a global procedure. SO MP dosn´t know where the channel-group was switched.
If so ... its working as expected. But from the usability site, it might be a bug. So switching channel-groups should be seperated for the different kinds of action. This would help.

So we would need to store the 'tuned channel group' and 'EPG channel group' separately.

I can see some logic to this, although I suspect that whatever we do it will confuse some people.

But sounds to me, that you now understand what i mean ;)

I don´t need a patch for this issue. It was only an comment from the usability site

should we really save the EPG channel group?
Me personally expect this to work in such a way:
channel +/- is only possible inside the group where current channel is. Even if we have same channel in several groups - group change should happen ONLY when i explicitely switch to any channel inside the other group.
EPG should always come with the group which channel is currenty beinf watched from. after exiting EPG the information about last selected group in EPG disappears, so after pressing EPG again i get the group of channel being currently watched, and not last selected in EPG group.

Other opinions? i thought it worked in such a way in 1.1.x (though i could be wrong).

    I agree. Sounds good.
