It's really unfortunate that the old version of TsReader you're using doesn't log the codecs that are connected. :(

    Can you please:
    1. Take a screenshot of the LAV audio codec settings.
    2. Try to enable the "prefer AC-3 sound" setting -->here<-- and see if that makes any difference in MediaPortal's ability to view the channels (live) or the recordings.

mm -- are you trying to exceed my competence level? If so, pick on someone you own 'size''
Meaning, I don't know if the attached is what you wanted.
BUT, enabling 'prefer AC-3 sound' causes both channels to play correctly!!!!!!!!!! - with no obvious problem on a couple of other channels.
Will there be any problem with this option?
    Once again, your genius triumphs.

    Thank you,
    Cal

    No, not at all!

Meaning, I don't know if the attached is what you wanted.
    Aye, it is. :)
The settings on that tab look okay to me. Could you please also grab screenshots of the other 2 tabs?

BUT, enabling 'prefer AC-3 sound' causes both channels to play correctly!!!!!!!!!! - with no obvious problem on a couple of other channels.
Okay, so the situation is as follows...
The 2 Hallmark channels have 2 audio streams each - one AC3 (Dolby Digital) and one MPEG 2.
Preview was selecting the AC3 audio stream by default; MediaPortal was selecting the MPEG 2 audio stream based on your previous configuration.
It appears that MediaPortal, TsReader, and/or LAV are not able to handle the MPEG 2 audio stream. I'm not sure if that's due to fault(s) or if the MPEG 2 audio stream itself is not okay.
Either way, by enabling the "prefer AC-3" option, you enable MediaPortal, TsReader, and LAV to avoid/ignore the unplayable MPEG 2 audio stream. That enables the channels/recordings to play correctly (because the AC3/DD audio stream is okay/playable).

Will there be any problem with this option?
Nothing that you can't solve with proper configuration.

The change may cause MediaPortal to select different audio streams for certain channels. If those alternative audio streams don't suit you (eg. the dialogue is in a language you don't understand) then you will need to amend your configuration (eg. specify your preferred audio languages in MediaPortal configuration).

    Other LAV settings attached.
If you have stereo (2) speakers (rather than a surround sound setup - >=4 speakers + sub-woofer) then I'd probably advise to enable mixing on the second tab, and also tick "don't mix stereo sources". Aside from that, the settings look okay to me.

Perhaps you could upload a short recording (less than 100 MB) and I'll see if I'm able to play the MPEG 2 audio stream here.

20 MB recording from Hallmark Movies attached. (you'll note that the title doesn't match the content -- wrong mapping somewhere)
My audio system is 2 Infinity RS4.5 speakers front, and 2 small Infinity speakers rear, but not surround sound. Also, no sub-woofer, but 4 very high qualify 15 inch woofers in the 4.5s. I'll try mixing enabled to see if I can tell the difference --
