Choppy video when not timeshifting (1 Viewer)

I have EXACTLY the same problem. I have tried changing codecs to no avail, I have noticed that cpu usage goes down from around 40% to 15 % when the choppiness starts.

Another problem I have...not sure if it's related is that when i try and fast forward recorded tv, it skips back. The amount of time it skips back is related to how long since the last time i fast forwarded. The longer the interval the further back it skips. Also the time shown bears no relation to the length of the actual recording!

I too have the same problem!

Sometimes the audio starts to break up, ramping for perhaps 10 seconds, after which it goes completely silent, permament. I have also seen audio+video breaking up which ends up in a loop of 0.2 sec functioning video&audio followed by 0.8 seconds freeze/silence.

My MB/Chipset is identical to the OP (how can i post my UserCP if i have never posted before?). Hauppauge 500, fresh xp patched, Soungblaster x-fi pci-card. Using builtin Radeon x1200. MP process at about 10% when watching tv.

Watching films no problem. Watching with timeshift works wonderfully.

I'm still looking into this. For some reason it appears less than a week ago, but still appears. mediaportal.log in 'informational setting did not add a single line when the effect happened last time. It's now on debug setting...

how can i post my UserCP if i have never posted before

Top menu (before you hit the MP\HOME\ABOUT\FEATURES etc menu) edit system specifications, which you need to enable whilst there.

This helps us enormously, and stops the nags as well.

Ok, some more info on this phenomenon:

* No entries in the MediaPortal.log file even in logging level 'debug'.

* Can occur in 'my TV' screen, aswell as guidescreen and full screen. Switching view once the effect has occured does not affect.

* Activating timeshift when it is occuring fixes the problem (as always, switching channel works too).

* CPU usage somewhat higher - nothing drastic.

Codecs are really, really greek to me, but i guess that's where im heading....
