    Hi Team,

First of all I like to stress that I really like MePo and still discovering features!

But I really need help solving described issue.
For some time now I'm trying to solve stuttering, carbeled images and dropping audio in MePo, I never had this issue with previous releases (1.0.2, and the RC's for 1.1.0 final).

At this moment I've setup a single seat config, see details above, and a client config, see details below:
MB: Asus M2A-VM HDMI (with disabled graphics controller)
    SDD: OCZ Vertex 30Gb
Processor: Dual Core AMD Athlon X2 3800+ 2,0 Ghz
    Memory: 2Gb
Graphics card: Sapphire HD5450 Silent 512Mb
    ATI driver: 10.7
    OS:W7 x64
    LAN: Gigabit
    CD/DVD burner, slim line

    What I did till today:
Installed SAF5.0 (experimented with 4.0) => no luck
Experimented with dshowhelper => no luck
Reinstalled the machine => no luck
    Experimented with: Dynamic Refresh Rate
Tagged and untagged: Don't drop TsReader in TV-client

    What I noticed:
My single seat setup also does have some issues with stuttering but less then the client. LAN should not be an issue its 1Gb native and it has Cat5 cabling.
For this thread I made a recording to attach, but...before I attached it I've played it outside MePo and it wasn't displaying the issue. With that in mind, I think that the issue should reside on the client or whitin MePo.

As I'm not an expert on this matter (but learning all the way) I really appreciate the help of the team.

Please see attached Log files. And of course more than willing to do more investigation.

    Regards,
    Johnnie

Nobody who can help me??? please

I'm a bit confused about your systems, because you state

    MediaPortal Version: W7: MP 1.1.0 (XP-Pro: MP 1.0.2)
    MediaPortal Skin: Blue Wide
Windows Version: Dual Boot: W7x64 all updates (XP Pro SP3)

Does this mean you have a different version of MP on the server and client? If not, could you please clarify your setups for server and client?

Presumably since you talk about singleseat/multiseat, the stuttering is in TV?

    Johnnie,

I'am not sure if this is related to your problem, but you might check it out.

I have issues with stuttering aswell. But only when i use the cyberlink codecs in the TV conf, if i use the MS codecs its better.

So my question, do you use cyberlink or microsoft codecs ?

If you use cyberlink try switching to MS codecs, and see what happens.

    Good Luck

    Louis

PS i get the idea that it's a saf problem, perhaps you might adress it in the saf thread too.

    Hi Mark,

    To clearify my setup;
I've got a multiseat setup with dualboot. But I'm always running the W7 config. The XP config is for backup and insurrance only.

When I'm referring to stuttering; I'm using MP 1.1.0, aswell on the multiseat as on the singleseat (so the level of MePo on the LAN is consistend).
And yes, the stuttering does appear on Live Tv.

I'll hope this clearify's the config of the multi-seat?

    Hi Louis,

Thanks for the tip, may I ask some more questions?
    • you're mentioning that the MS codecs are better, does this mean you will see less or no stuttering applying them?
    • did you experiment with SAF4 and SAF5?
    • is uninstalling of SAF enough or is a clean-install of the system needed to exclude interference between the default and added codecs (SAF)?

    Hi.

At first, I would try another audio codec also. On some channels ffdshow is trouble. For me Discovery channels the ones.

When you talk about "stuttering", is it that the framerate is dropping? Like in my case von 50 fps to 33.4 fps? If yes, I'm seeing the same issue. I'm using SAF5 with ffdshow Audio codec and PDVD10 video codec.

    Hi Johnnie,

I didn't say the MS codecs are better :) i only experience less stuttering (and stuttering in my case is 1 out of 2 frames is dropped). And this is not on all channels .......

With MP 1.1.0 i have only worked with SAF 5 builds, and within saf 5 i use MS for the TV part. As is also stated in the first page of saf 5. W7 use MS codecs.

As far as uninstalling of saf 5. As i'm also experimenting with the latest builds of MePo, i regularly wipe my disk using an image of a clean install.
But according to hoborg an uninstall should be sufficient.

    Good luck

    Louis

on vista/7 make sure you have aero on, turning the graphics down and setting the computer for best performance seems like a good idea, but it makes video LAG.

if you have aero turned off, try re-enabling it.

I noticed when having aero off my framerate suffered badly, but re-enabling it brought it back up to 60fps where it should be.
When it was off, it was struggling to do 45~50fps.
