My client PC works fine, but takes around 2 minutes to startup even tough its an SSD, the following error always appears in the error log

[2013-11-26 08:34:32,393] [Log ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [ERROR] - TvServer: Failed to execute remote TV server operation (IsAnyCardRecording) The operation has timed out after 3000.

When it does startup then TV works fine.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

    Hi,

I have found the part of the code where this log appear, but I don't know why can it run timeout. Your tvserver is on another PC? It can be network issue or tvserver performance issue.

What are you more worried about: the slow start or the error in the error log?
As far as I'm concerned the error is not material to the startup time. I mean, the 3000 is 3000 ms (ie. 3 seconds), and it is a background thread - in other words, it is not holding up MP startup.

Have you seriously timed the startup?
From your older log files (when not using RDP)...
    First entry:
    [2013-11-26 14:14:56,616] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Using alternate configuration file: C:\Users\All\AppData\Local\Temp\MPTemp\MediaPortalTemp.xml

    Loading happens up to here:
    [2013-11-26 14:15:19,753] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - D3D OnIdle: MP focus done

That doesn't look like two minutes to me.

When using RDP (not debug mode, so can't see exact same entries):
    [2013-11-26 14:19:15,609] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Main: Starting MPWatchDog
    ...
    [2013-11-26 14:20:24,219] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - TvNotify:LoadNotifies

Yes, that is much slower... but that is what you should expect if you're using RDP.

    Just timed it with Stopwatch,
from clicking Icon to Main menu appearing takes 58 seconds

then if you launch LiveTV, it takes 51 seconds before you start to hear some choppy audio and then another 27 seconds until you see video, The reasonI bring up the error is that I know from previous experience although it says 3000ms the actual timeout for some errors is set to 30 seconds.

FYI during startup approx. 50% of time is spent displaying "initialising input devices" - not sre if that helps
