[solved] clone epg for other channel (2 Viewers)

Hello,

On DVB-T here, there are 3 provider (and 3 frequencies). One of them provides a channel TVN, with full EPG information. On another frequency is TVN-HD, which is exactly the same channel in full-hd broadcast, but for which no EPG is broadcast. The same situation occurs with 2 other channels.

Is there a way to tell Mediaportal that the EPG for TVN-HD is the same as that for TVN?

(I'm using MediaPortal 2, summer release update 1)

Thanks,

Jörg

allow me to second this: In my case (Belgium - Telenet Cable provider) there are analog channels on the cable, but most of them are duplicated in HD on an (encrypted) DVB-C/digital multiplex with EPG.
(Off course you need to rent a Digibox from Telenet to watch the encrypted DVB-C, but since the EPG part is readable, it would be nice if it could be cloned or re-mapped to the analog channels.)

With the xmlguide plugin it's easily possible. You can manually map epg information to the channels.
If you take EPG from satellite, I'm not sure as I've no experience.

    Hi.
If you take EPG from satellite, I'm not sure as I've no experience.
If EPG is from SAT it should be "mapped" correctly already. If not it's a fault of the TV station, not of MP. In case of a faulty SAT (means DVB-) EPG there is nothing you can do excerpt for not using it.

If you are using WebEPG and/or XMLTV plugin you easily can map EPG data to whatever channel you like.. In XMLTV plugin you best tick "partial match" before you click on "Refresh" Then more channels are mapped automatically and you don't need to manually map that much... WebEPG is a similar approach than xmltv but not that feature rich. So I don't use it and can't tell how to use without having a closer look at the wiki...

it would be nice if it could be cloned or re-mapped to the analog channels.
Isn't there an EPG on the analog channels? Maybe via Teletext or so? It's very long ago (maybe 10 Years or so) since I last used analoge channels, but I'm pretty sure I got EPG "on Air" here in Germany.
Aside this you can not clone the DVB-EPG to the analoge channels afaik. Even if it was possible you would need an expensive DVB-C tuner card for this. Using WebEPG or xmltv is the much better and cheaper alternative in this case.

They stopped all Teletext services in my country on 1st of June 2016. Even then, the EPG was only for that same day and very sketchy at best. (like only till 18h00. Tough luck for evening programs or films.)

I have absolutely no idea what you mean with "expensive DVB-C tuner card". I think there is a misunderstanding regarding "mapping". What i mean is that there is probably a file in MP where you find this type of info:
    "Tuner:DVB-C tuner -- Channel:confused:omeHDchannel -- EPGdata:blablabla"
and it would be nice to "map" or change that database afterwards to this:
    "Tuner:analogTuner -- Channel:confused:ameAnalogChannel -- EPGdata:blablabla"

For the record: i am documenting all the changes I make to my fresh install for debugging purposes, and here is the latest snippet from the log:

After some discussion regarding EPG in another subforum, I went to the wiki and started following the WebEPG instructions.
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...001_TV-Server/Configuration/13_Plugins/WebEPG
    - activated the WebEPG plugin
    - stopped the service (right side of the taskbar) I got this error when I tried to restart it:
    (insert file)
    - reopened the TV Server Configuration and continued.
When I got to the "Auto Mapping" part of the wiki, I hit the next problem: I cannot import a list (or see the list) in the "TV Mappings" tab.
    - reboot
still not able to import list of channels or not able to see it.
    - made logfile

    What could be wrong?

You need a DVB tuner to receive DVB- EPG... To buy one only for EPG grabbing is not the most economic way to do.

I'm not using WebEPG due to it's limitations (slow import, only few websites for grabbing EPG data, no way to control or alter the grabbed data before they are imported,...) so I can not help with your issue. I'm using xmltv plugin together with WebGrab+Plus and Episodes2TVGuide for adding series season and episodes numbers to the data... That is working nice and I can easily map any EPG data to any channel I want, no matter if it is analoge or DVB, HD or SD...

What i mean is that there is probably a file in MP where you find this type of info:
That type of info is stored inside the database of the TV engine. If you want to modify this you really need deep SQL knowledge and you also need to know exactly how the MP TV engine is accessing those data. That's why I prefer data that is prepared outside the database in a way I like it before it is imported into the TV engine database, what is possible with xmltv plugin easily.

Try to merge the similar channels to one.

@Lehmden: thanks for the tips, I'll try your xmltv-combo maybe later. I also forgot to mention I have a dual-hybrid card.
@regeszter: that is a golden tip! I think I can get around the problem (for now) by merging channels and/or using the DVB-C card to grab the EPG data, as explained here:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...Server_Configuration/03_TV_Channels/2_Mapping
Since I have some other (BSOD) issues running in another thread, I'll probably try it later, after the logs I posted have been reviewed. For now I won't touch anything.
    But again: thanks!
