Hi. When i use the power key on my remote to excecute MP, it works perfectly, but when i want to exit MP the program closes, but my windows taskbar at the bottom disappears!

I use my Leadtek Coolcommand remote with the UICE software - i dont think its a problem with either of these, as i have mapped all the commands i want perfectly, with every function of MP mapped and all are performing with no problems and as expected.

MP has crashed on a very few occasions, but when it has, i've shut down MP in task manager (which shuts down fine) but the taskbar disappears, like above.

Where as if i close the full screen window (oh, i use it in full screen) and then right click the taskbar icon to exit - there is no problem!

When i close MP with the remote - the taskbar disappears - then in taskmanager MP is still running - so i close it and the taskbar is still gone. The only way to get my taskbar back is then to open MP again, and close it using the X in MP (to minimise to tray) then closing it from the tray.

I suppose a way around this problem is to configure MP to not minimise to tray (and just quit) - i'll try this to see what happens, maybe i'll get my taskbar back!

You most likely have 'hide the task bar in fullscreen' selected. The way your closing it might be terminating MP rather than closing it nicely hence no undoing the hidden taskbar part.

I did have "hide taskbar on fullscreen" enabled - but i've just un-ticked the checkbox, and to no avail.

I understand what you're saying about letting MP close down the way it wants to.

I use the power button i've mapped in UICE to "excecute/close application".

Is there a more friendly way of letting MP know i want to shut it down properly?

Ok. Just tried shutting down MP with the remote using the "X" in the corner of the home GUI screen and it shuts down with no problems (got my taskbar!) so this will do for now...

Is it possible for a future build to alter the close program command (from outside MP) to match that of the "X" close program command?

So when task manager or another program tells it to quit t shuts down in the same way the MP GUI wishes it to - or is that a tweak for XP to handle?

p.s getting into this big time. MP is the dogs gonads, i used to beta test a media centre set-top box, but this is a killer app! 8)

EDIT!!!!: I've just found out that MP wasn't saving the settings for GUI behaviour (for some reason) and i've fixed it now. Power button starts MP, power button closes MP! I'm a happy bunny now! :D :D :D

I have been looking for a way to start MP through my remote control (I am using an MCE remote), but I can only close MP with the power button. You say you can also start MP with the power button, which remote are you using? If not MCE, does anybody know how to accomplish this task with an MCE one?

    Thanks!

Start MP with the green start button on MCE remotes (genuine Microsoft receiver): https://www.team-mediaportal.com/files/Download/Plugins/Input/MPTray/

If using an integrated receiver (IRTrans): https://www.team-mediaportal.com/files/Download/Plugins/Input/Mptray4Irtrans/
