Hi,

I tried to setup my MP to use Gabest and FFDShow (no DXVA) for all videos, and so far I have managed to get them to work on:

1) MKV files
2) AVI files (splitted by windows splitter and decoded by FFDShow)
3) TS, M2TS files
4) MP4 and MOV files.

But now I have problem to make FFDShow to work with MPEG videos. They're splitted by Gabest, but I cannot make them decoded by FFDshow. The graphstudio shows that the preferred decoder is the Gabest MPEG decoder comes with MP installation even though the merit on FFDShow is set to the highest.

Please help if you have any opinion, thanks a lot!!

Hi Hoborg,

Thanks for your reply. I didn't try SAF and I prefer to set up codes manually since I'd like to share FFDShow settings with other players on my system (MPC-HC for example).

Hi Hoborg,

SAF have MPC-HC player intergated but fully reconfigured (ffdshow is in use).

It is not an easy task to setup this hell manually. If you wish to do it - i wish you best luck - you will need it :)

Hi hoborg,

I tried to dig into SAF5, but I'm not sure if it suits me, can I ask you some questions?

1) Does SAF5 only use Gabest filters from MPC-HC and FFDShow decoder? It seems that it also uses PowerDVD video decoder in some of the cases (referring to your manual)
2) Is it possible to use software decoder of FFDShow, I'm not really into DXVA yet.
3) How does HD audio pass through work? Does it provide standard FFDShow configuration GUI?
4) What is the need for Halli in SAF?

Thanks a lot in advance!

somy:

1)You need PDVD decoder (or MS video decoder) for h.264 LiveTV, FFDshow doesnot working correctly, MPEG-2 FFDshow decoder have a/v sync issue in MePo LiveTV.
2)Yes, just disable h.264 decoding in FFDshow DxVA decoder
3)Yes, GUI is standard, but you need HD reciever, HDMI connection and GPU/Sound card that support HD audio passthrough
4)There is no need to install Haali at all. Haali have problems with some formats, like HD audio, AVI (1.0), etc. SAF have all you need already integrated.

To save me from editing endless registry entries and registering all the needed source filters, I will give a try to SAF5 later today.
Thank you very much for the great work!!
