Wonder if that could be the mpc audio filter, you could try nevcariels lav filter instead, media player will use MS audio codec for playback, that may be why its works there.

the first screenshot (called me-be.jpg) on post 19 is when the 720p file is playing in MP!

Yeah i'm here and i don't know why it didn't work it seems like you are not in 1:1 (refresh rate monitor/tv based on movie).

Why isn't MP playing videos 1:1? How can I correct this?

You can try to correct it by using reclock or MP Audio Renderer and/or match refresh rate of movie 1:1 refresh rate on video screen.
Like video @24, set your refresh of graphics card @24 and so on for 60 and 50hz.

But the strange thing is that it seems working correctly on mpc-hc.

Sorry for the late reply but I have been away and busy with work. Attached is a screen shot of the file playing with reclock for audio render (still no good!). I am using refresh rate changer also if that makes a difference.
