Ok, I have read the guides that say all you need to install is FFDshow, but I am having trouble getting the video codec to work well in Mediaportal. CPU usage is 100%, and I can't F'FWD/RWD using it.
FFDshow has Mpeg2 Disabled when you first install it, Is that because you should use a better codec.
I assumed that because I had a 4.8AMD duel core CPU there would be enough power to watch live TV all my drivers are up to date. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?
What is the next best codecs to try powerdvd, windvd, nvidia? will I run into trouble installing all these codecs?

I had problems w/FFDshow and abandoned it. I'd read a MP installation guide which had some language about turning ON every filter -- DON'T do it! I had to Uninstall FFDshow entirely after that. Maybe that was something I did but I'm very leary about using it. Be sure you get a filter MERIT tool so you can interrogate which filters are of high merit. And, especially pay attention to the system tray for what's popping there and should it be.

Try the Dscaler codec. It worked reliably for me. MPV will only give you 4:3 images so if you're 16:9....

I was running MP on a 3100+, 1GB, 9600xt on WinXP. Your system IS plenty powerful
