I have been running Vista Media Center successfully with a Compro Videomate E700 Dual DVB-T card however when I attempt to configure it for MP I receive an error message that 'no video capture card can be found'.

From other posts there seems to be some doubt with Compro Videomate cards.

Can anyone suggest anything definitive as to how to get the E700 recognised?

Is anyone successfully running an E700?

Mister

I have the same problem and there is page on the MediaPortal Wiki Documentation site called "add TVCard to natively supported list". It involves using a program called Graphedit and also looking at the "CaptureCardDefinitions.xml" file in the mediportal folder with Notepad (use the find command using compro to find all there cards). I've found the E700 listed in the xml file but have had no success in changing the parameters accessed by the graphedit program. ( you can also acces the info through the device manager). Hope this might prove useful and please let me Know if you have any success!

or you can just install the TVserver which detects any card that windows can see.

Search the site for more info on TV server.

Nigel South, you & I may be out of luck as regards Graphedit. See thread titled "Getting your H/W TVcard to be supported, You can help us!" at MediaPortal Forum > MediaPortal 1 > Get Support > General Support . (Sorry, don't know how to link to another thread.)

    am I invisible?

there are two tv engines for Media Portal. The old one is built in and no longer supported and needs to have tv cards constantly updated, especially if the driver updates change the hardware device ids.

The new TV server autodetects all cards, as long as windows sees them.
It takes a little bit longer to install but has a lot more benefits.
The download link is in the top right of the Main MP home page.

Sorry Marcusb, I was not aware that you could use TV server in a 'Single Seat Configuration'. Following your advice I have attempted installing TV server but have run into a problem which I hope you can help me with.

I have been following the 'Tutorial Videos for TV-Server and Client' and installed (1) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (2) Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express (3) Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) and then (4) Tv-Server & TV-Client Plugin version 04-07-2008 05-08h Revision 18566.

When you then run TV-Server configuration and Test/Save 'Setup Database connection' the installation doesn't progress any further. After clicking the 'Save' button you simply get the same window reappearing again. The installation doesn't seem to get to finishing the installation of TV-Server. You certainly don't get to the 'TV Server management console' as mentioned in the video.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Steve, I finally got it to be recognised with the release of MediaPortal/TV-Server 1.0 RC1.

I then ran into the same problem that I was getting with Windows Media Center under Vista. I found that when the system came out of standby it ran Live TV for approximately 60 seconds and then froze the TV and displayed the message "No TV Signal, etc". I contacted Compro but their suggestions were the obvious - update mobo bios, uninstall and reload drivers, etc. I had tried all their suggestions before contacting them.

My final step was to purchase a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-2200 PCIe Hybrid Analog/ Dual Digital TV and FM Tuner card from PricePoint at a cost of $191.60. I uninstalled the E700 and installed the Hauppauge card and without making any other changes Vista Media Center had the Hauppauge card up and running without any problems. I can now bring my system out of standby without TV freezing and receiving the "No TV Signal, etc" message.

I've yet to reload MediaPortal/TV-Server and try the card under TV-Server but I'm very optimistic. I'm also about to send an email off to Compro telling them that the Hauppauge card has succeeded in the area where their E700 failed.

If I was you, I would forget about the E700 and pay the extra cash for the Hauppauge - you also get access to FM.
