Hi,

When i tried to install the new MP versio 0.2.3 i have an issue that the configuration toll will not startup correctly.
It seems that MP exits due to an error message found in mediaportal.log right when configuration toolis called.

First rename the file mediaportal.xml to oldmediaportal.xml and then try reconfiguring.

Did you upgrade from previous 0.2.2.0 without deleting the old folder (after backing it up) as something giving a out of range exception.

If none above works uninstall delete whole MP folder and start again, you may get away with restoring db's bar the music db as that has been updated since 0.2.2.0 and is not compatible.

    Quick reply:

There was no earlier version installed prior to this.

    More info:

Ok i've tested the things that you mentioned but nothing helps.
( Not unexpected since it was a fresh install)

    Last line in Configuration.log is:
2007-11-18 21:05:16.875000 [Info.][Config Main]: MAP: using default mappings for DirectInput

No more log files was produced since i've not started Mediaportal yet on the reinstall.

    /Peter

    OK

Now for some serious critism, all windows updates installed, why are you not using WMP11 (windows update)
MP does rely on WMP, are there any other updates you do not consider neccessary, sorry to sound blunt, but this is the first thing that is pointed out for MP installation in the documentation.

No need to feel sorry. I worked very hard to remove WMP11 from my system cause i dont like it.
I'm using VLC as a standalone mediaplayer and was hoping to use in inside mediaportal aswell.

So you are saying that the out of range error is due to that WMP10/11 isnt on my system?

    Edit:
I reinstalled WMP11 but it doesn't help me.

Please uninstall, remove the entire folder, redownload and try installing again.

Thanks for the suggestion. Though iv'e tested that a couple of times already.
I did it once more and exactly the same issue.

During the install I used all the default options and run the post install configuration.
It crashes/diseappears when the "adding filters section" dialog shows.
Again the same configuration.log file is produced as ive uploaded before.

Thanks for any help. (I tried the version 0.2.2 and it worked nice.) Although a lot of thing seems tobe changed from that version
so it doesnt mean that much i guess.

It crashes/diseappears when the "adding filters section" dialog shows.

So I guess there are registry leftovers from Codecs which do no longer exist on your system and MP tries to load the codec setting tab for them. Could you please try to login with a different Windows User and start configuration.exe there?
