    MediaPortal Skin: bluetwo wide
    Windows Version: XP pro

Since a couple of days de configuration of MP wont start, I get a error message from .net framework (see image).

I had this error before i was trying to use screenselector. What happened was the following: setup my gfx card to 2 displays. setup mp to display on second display. Then I changed the setup of my gfx card back to just 1 display, mp setup/configuration crashes. I change the gfx card setup back to 2 display and the configuration started normal again.
In the configuration i've deselected the screenselector, changed the setup of my gfx card back and every thing still worked. I figured that MP config doesnt like have an option selected that doesnt exist, like the secondary display that disappeared.

This time, no screenselector is selected. The only thing i've been trying is getting DVD to work again (since rc2 playback became impossible, but thats another story), switched between codecs etc. I came to a point that I removed PowerDVD (and the codecs) from the system. After removal of powerdvd the configuration crashed for the first time.
This reminded me of the screenselector issue, and i reinstalled PowerDVD, but this didnt work.

    What I have done:

    Renamed mediaportal.xml (to reset config)
Reinstalled MP (after removal offcourse, didnt restart after removal)
Reinstalled .net framework 2.0 (with restart in between)
Reinstalled DirectX (didnt remove the old one)

    What still works:

Mediaportal itself still works fine, in MP inself I can adjust some configurations but not all.

    What doesnt work:

Configuration itself doesnt work at all, I can continue but the config doesnt save anything.

Anyone familiar with the problem? Or suggestions?

hi Erik, you'll need to post your log files (/logs in the MP home directory) especially the config log file, since that will show the last step the configuration got to before the error.

Also, have you installed .net 3? Later revisions of MP need that to be installed.

If tried .net 3 but it didn't change anything.

I've also attached the log file in this post.

Today I've motivated myself to deinstall MP completely, and remove the directory. Restart WinXP en install again.

It took me a while to setup MP again, but it worked. Somehow the error was MP related.
