I have also a smart tv. This is dealing f.e with the common user video directory from windows. If the windows media player is used to set the media information like the actors, the date of the film, and so on the smart tv is able to read them. If would be great if MP would support those information , especially because MP is collecting those information by its own.

You can stream TV to smart TV's fairly easily using Servio. It worked on our Sony and Samsung smart TV's, but it meant that you could only set up a single channel to stream and you had to change channel via the PC running Servio:

When I was looking into that, I found this which is much more interesting:

That shows all the channels as DNLA stream so you can change channel on the DNLA client. If MediaPortal could do this, there wouldn't be any need for client boxes if you was using a smart TV.[DOUBLEPOST=1421245474][/DOUBLEPOST]
Yep, and I just bought an Amazon Fire TV for £64 and with the new MB3 Android 10ft Client app (http://mediabrowser.tv/community/in...-154-coming-soon-to-your-android-living-room/) + the MP live tv plugin it's definitely the way forward.

Also has the benefits of proper apps e.g. Netflix, Sky Go etc

I still use MP on my main living room PC but have MB3 apps on all other devices as well as using the web client.

I'm thinking of using Amazon Fire's as clients. How well does it work? Are there any glitches, lag or other problems? I was originally going to use my MediaPortal windows TV server, with Amazon Fire clients using XBMC. Is there any benefit to using MB3 instead of XBMC?
