When the volume settings are set to "Scale: Vista", "Control: Master Volume" Mediaportal fails to adjust the volume when hitting the volume keys on my remote.

I checked out the error log included in the attachment and found that an exception occurs for each time I pressed the volume button.

I first noticed this problem when I migrated to Vista from XP. I have since migrated to Win7 and the problem has persisted.

Same settings as you. I find that with the latest (at the time of download, mediaportal-svn-01-31-2010--14-51-Rev24923) I can change volume just fine, but even though 'Master volume' is set it is application specific.

I would expect that 'Master volume' would refer to the OS master, so that I don't have to keep track of 3 indiviual volume settings (speakers, OS and application).

I couldn't find any volume-related exceptions in the logfile, they're all related to the menu.

It's interesting that controlling master volume works for you. I am running the same version you are (and as of when I posted this thread) and when set to control master volume I hear the audio cue that plays when adjusting the volume but the volume doesn't change.

I do agree that it would be nice to have it control the OS master volume. I use GameEx as a gaming frontend and Zinc for online videos that are accessed via multishortcut in MP and while those programs control OS master volume MP does not making keeping track of the volume problematic when switching back and forth.

I'm quite sure this will be fixed in the next beta though. Keep up the good work MP Team! :D

Hi guys, I installed RC1 on W7 x64 Ultimate yesterday and at first I also had this problem: the volume indicator was moving but the sound level didn't change.
First I thought this was a bug but then I recalled that vista/w7 had this new way of controlling sound so this is what I did: I re-sized MP to run in a window and had the sound mixer aside of it when changing sound level.

At some point, the sound volume in MP was changing now when I modified it and it stayed this way (even after rebooting, hibernating or going in standby)
I don't fully understand what happened but even after having rebooted before and nothing changed, it got solved.
