Hi,

First I have to thank you all for having this kind of mediacenter developed and offering it for free.
I have been using it since december 2007 and progression has been wonderful.
I have met some problems with it but almost everyone has been solved.
Now I have problem with digital sound, I connected my AV receiver into optical spd/if connector of my HTPC.
I was able to have sound immediately but first time I was not able to control volume via HTPC at all. I googled a bit and have a solution for that. The answer was to upgrade imon VFD drivers. Then I was able to control volume with antec volume knob and also with hauppauge remote in Vista mediacenter but not with hauppauge remote in mediaportal. Is there a solution for this kind of problem?

I also always have had problems with S3 standby/wakeup. Mediaportal always give an error message, unable to start timeshifting, when I want to start TV after S3 standby. After restarting TVservice- service, TV starts ok. I am using TVserver/mediaportal combination.

Have someone else met this kind of problems?

Hello,

Just to inform you that, when you use digital output , the "main volume" control does not work : it is a known behavior in this case that the volume in the windows mixer should be set with the "wave" volume instead.
With the imon manager you can specified if it is either the main volume control or another control (CD, Line In, wav..) wich is affected by the "Volume +/-" keys of your remote

Hi,

I don't know about how it should or should not work. In my case volume control works in vista mediacenter application but not in mediaportal and I want to know what is the difference between these use cases and is there something I can do with it or is it just a bug.

Hi kojoja,
you have to open MP-Configuration, General, Volume Settings, there you find two points "Master Volume" and "Wave".
Put it on Wave then you are able to control the Volume with the HTPC.

Hi Janosch,

Thanks for advice. I tried it and I could not set that control to 'wave'. MP configuration accepts to change it from "master" into "Wave" but when I hit "ok" button the selection will return into "master" position. Anyway I could set it to "Wave" directly by editing mediaportal.xml but the behavior is excatly same than in "master" position. I cannot control volume with remote, but when I turn HTPC (Antec) volume knob it works.

Any other ideas??

easy: your solution is volume tracker. it will move any mixer control simultaneously with main volume.

edit: i saw you're using vista but volume tracker currently does not work with vista, sorry

I'm having this problem as well.

...and me too, very annoying. I set it to wave in mp config and vol + - only works on the remote when listening to music.

Im using win xp pro, Hauppage (45b) mce remote, power DVD8. Digital sound by opto cable. (It all worked before with analog conn.)

mp3 is decoded by the PC therefore the PC can control the volume
dolby digital is set to pass through (ie the Home theatre receiver decodes the signal instead of the PC)
if the PC doesn't decode the signal then there is no volume control
so for anything that uses pass through eg. DTS/AC3/DD5.1 etc volume control is only available on the stereo.

PS - When you used analog the PC decoded the dolby digital into 5x seperate analog channels, since the PC did the decoding you had volume control with analog connection cables.
