One thing I've never properly sorted is the shutdown/suspend config on my HTPC.

At present the Power button on the remote does an OS suspend - ignoring what MePo is doing (ie recording, etc).

What I am trying to achieve is when you hit the Power button on the remote, then the client side of MePo goes to the home screen (or worst case does nothing), but the HTPC actually waits until what ever MePo TVServer is doing (eg recording) until it performs a suspend/shutdown.

This should also apply if I have an additional HTPC client, utilising the single seat as the TVServer

Should MePo work in this way?

Hi

Just re-map the power button on your harmony to run a macro instead of sending power command.

My macro is stop live playing and go to Home basic screen.

Mediaportal is configured to shut down 4 mins later if on Home basic screen only.

If you are using iMON, then put the macro in there instead (map the remote power action), and remove the power button from power configuration in iMON, then you can use the remote to put the computer to sleep as above, but it will also wake it up, even if fully powered down.

Dude, g0rsq has just told you that you should be able to map your remote's "Power" button to another function (eg. Home Screen, like you want)

Then, you'll need to configure "Power Scheduler", which is within both the TV-Server and Client configuration apps, to shut-down using settings that you choose. Power Scheduler handles all the suspend/wake-up functions so that your server and clients go to sleep when they're idle, then wake up as required (recordings, watch TV, etc.)

Not sure why the sad face, then ......

Hi there,

I already use Power Scheduler and have it configured to shutdown - but not after 5 minutes, I think after 15 minutes (incase someone forgets to turn it off). I wanted to avoid a short timeout period, as frequent suspends can cause trouble when resuming.

What did you use to generate the macro?

Yor remote is Harmony, and this should be configurable to assign any button to any function.

Also it should allow you to configure macro commands (one command followed by another ie [STOP][Pause 300ms][Goto Home Basic] (use the shortcuter plugin to create Home basic function).

Not sure if your remote will wake up the PC from sleep though, but you could leave the [POWER TOGGLE] function in the macro and disable front button from putting PC to sleep in windows options (still should wake it though) but that will depend upon your IR reciever capability (I use iMON which works very well for waking the PC).
