I have a client only install running on a XP system (specs below), with a gigabit wired connection to another computer that has a tree shared out (its an XP system also). The share is readonly to other computers on the network - the client in question cannot write to it (if that matters).
When this client tries to play music on that share using My Music it takes a LONG time to play the first song on an album each time mp is started - at least 60-75 seconds. As soon as I hit the play button, CPU spikes to 100%, memory usage significantly goes up (I have seen it go up to 450MB), and stays there until the music starts playing - 60-75 seconds later. Interestingly enough, there is very little network activity during this startup period.
Once the music starts playing, CPU & memory return to reasonable levels (CPU: 20%, Memory 150MB or so)
The music was all ripped from CD via MediaPlayer11 - WMA.
I assume this is not "normal" behavior? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Joe
