Hi all I hope someone can help with this problem was not sure if this was a bug or a configuration issue. Anyway here goes.

So I've been running MP for a while now but keep having theses random crashes. For the most part MP will crash sometimes during video playback or just after even when navigating in Online video menu system and I cant quite put my finger on it. I saw an error in my event log that suggested memory issue and have reseated the modules I haven't tired some spare memory yet as i wanted to get opinions of you very clever people.

Other things I have tried is to reinstall MP and reinstall all codecs still the problem persists ;(

Please could someone suggest something I have not tried yet or is this a bug?

Kind regards

Dean

P.S. Please let me know if I need to give you more information log files should be attached.

I've had another crash again, it would seem online videos plugin was the trigger. Anyone got any ideas?

The crash is probably COM related and has to do with graph building (or rather decomposition of the graph on end of playback) in the player. Since it only affects OnlineVideos and OnlineVideos does provide its own player, it is probably an issue with the plugin.

You should contact the plugin developer to report the issue.

    1. Full un-install MP and reinstall to 1.2.2
    2. Reverted to default MP theme
    3. Disabled all plugins

Just for clarifying: you have MP 1.2.2, default theme, disabled all plugins and you still got random crash?

correct. However new theory I have had is this is graphics card related and with that I have reverted my drivers back to previous version. I'll report back if this has resolved issue. Any other ideas are welcome.

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB982524)
    And OR
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB982168)

Both were install the day after my errors stoped.

Rather late then never shortly after this post MP on same Shuttle pc started crashing AGAIN!! Still reporting same error with .Net.

So took the plunge and rebuilt with instructions found on MP wiki pages
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/11_Preparing_Your_System/XP_User_Guide
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/11_Preparing_Your_System/1_Codecs

Still crashed! then changed to [EVR] under Media portal "Video Render" settings never crashes since!!!

    Delay getting back here was...

    1. Shuttle MB DIED had to rebuild new PC
    2. Wanted to be sure this time fix was correct!

There was a memory leak in both MP 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 which caused random crashes in these two versions - it is very random, some people had a crash others didn't and it could be days or weeks before it showed up. It was fixed in MP 1.2.3, so upgrading to that version will likely solve your problem.
