At the following link it describes the ability to create a desktop shortcut to a plugin:
http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...guration/MediaPortal_Configuration/95_Plugins

Specifically it says:

For convenience, you may create a shortcut to a plugin configuration window If you open it frequently. You need to find the name of the plugin dll file. You can ask the plugin author or in the forum if you can't find it..
So for my MP, I really only use the TV plugin (my computer has a TV tuner). Is there a way to create a desktop shortcut that goes directly to the TV plugin in MP? I really don't need any of the other features in MP (like radio, pictures, etc...).

Such shortcut simply addresses the possibility to directly open the respective configuration. It is not possible to just have a "TV" link that you place on the desktop without the need to open Mediaportal.

You may try ticking "Show last active module when starting" in the config under "General / Resume. Then start TV. When you now close MP you should get back to TV at the next start. I never used this, therefore no guarantees.
