Im starting to have too much fun with this HTPC adventure, but my little guy is missing out on me :(

I've created my own graph in graphedit for my DVD setup (I linked the line21 decoder) did all that register filter..etc
So the output of the video/audio with CC working great ! but this is where Im stuck at.. what do I need to do to have media portal (watch dvd section) to use the graph I created. Also do I/ can I ? create a custom graph for different section as watching videos ?

A little step by step instruction would be great, (or even a link)

thanks again

Ok, you have my attention also...I also would like more detail on this. The examples in the Wiki just confuses me, so please if you figure this out will you update this post with your findings.

everytime I turn, theres something new

I just need to get back on the right track

    steps ?

my guess is something like this

1: use graphedit for troubleshooting and finding what works
2: unregister/register the filters you need
    3: set merits on filters
4: registery hack for pin connections on filters ? (this is where I'm at, my feeling is its gotta be medial portal to do
    the pin conncections)

am I on the right track ? the latter is confusing cuz I don t know where and what Im looking for

what do I need to do to have media portal (watch dvd section) to use the graph I created.

All the configuration for codecs for watching DVDs is done from within MediaPortal Setup - you don't need to bother with graphedit, etc.

However, for watching videos, you may need to change the merit values of codecs to ensure that your preferred codec is used for the different video types - GraphEdit can help you to identify exactly what codec is used in this situation (using "connect to a remote graph").

    HTH ... ?

thanks for your respond.. but I think you re missed my reason for this... the codec don't link the Line21 filter and I needed to provide the link to the overlay mixer

MediaPortal doesn't use the Overlay mixer - it uses VMR9. Is the problem you are trying to solve that you can't display Closed Captions from a DVD? If so, then I think you will need to modify the source code to fix that one?

    call me a idiot !

it works now... Im using the post processing in the media portal setup (dvd) added filter line21 decoder 2

I was sure I tried that.. and my guess is a few reasons that it didn t worked

    1: media portal rc2
2: post proccessing wasnt sticking (if you add 2 filters.. and go back, its gone)
3: I was drunk and didn t know what I heck I was doing :D

    an update

Im getting a better understanding every day :)

    but heres what I found

1: Im using the nvidia codec in the dvd settings
2: added line 21 decoder 2 in post processing (as line 21 decoder uses overlay instead of VMR9)
results: CC is displayed in DVD with the gray bar ( since its not attrative)

3: in the settings again, turned on EVR since Im using Vista in the DirectDraw filter

results: CC is no longer being displayed (gray bar is now black, which is what I want)

now my thinking is that that gray bar is the same colour as the CC's background

another note: playing around with the directdraw settings, I click on VMR9 exculsive mode ( along with EVR on) CC still not being displayed but when stoping the video ,crashes MP ( I know in the wiki stated that VMR9 should be turned off when EVR is ticked.

(My video card is the asus 8800GTS 640 megs)

    why ?

3: in the settings again, turned on EVR "and turned off VMR9"
results: CC is no longer being displayed

can anyone explain this ? why would post processing would work in DVD with VMR9 on and not if its off

edit: I was confused with using line 21 decoder 2 in Movies instead of DVD s (sorry)
