Hi, I have a minor issue:
When updating an installation that uses a modified mediaportaldirs.xml (pointing to nondefault directory for skins and DBs), this file will be replaced by the standardfile - this causes afterwards crashing in configuration.exe (because of missing files in default config dir).
An update should not overwrite the configuration (while a new/full install should) - or at least give a hint instead of crashing afterwards.
I know it's not a critical thing - at least because SVNs are no "normal releases" - just wanted to report it.

If you use a custom mediaportaldirs.xml it must be located in mydocs.
    1. Go to your My Documents folder
    2. Create folder "Team MediaPortal"
    3. Put custom mediaportaldirs.xml there

You can also look at your installation log file for hints if this is working or not.

I tried putting the files in the config dir where the rest of MP config files are - this is not working. So you mean putting it not under "all users" but having another directory under "username"?

Unfortunately, this file is not with the rest of the user files but in your My Documents.
Open your installation log file to see the specific directory.

Wow, thanks, this finally worked fine! Thanks for the hint - although I would have preferred to have such custom configfile together with the other configfiles. I would suggest to also accept a custom file in the all users/Team Mediaportal folder to make things easier - but decision is up to the MP-team.

It is already discussed on the team internal forum.
No clear decision on the way to go yet.
We must also keep in mind that 3rd party plugins and skin installers are also involved.
Keep an eye on mantis to see if/what/when is decided.
