If we drop that, user would have to manually choose another view from hidden menu and continue browsing from there.

Why? If you select Views Menu as start view, then go to a view, then film list the back navigation queue would return up the hierarchy right?
If you select Category View as start view, then yes, you don't get to Views Menu unless you select it - imo that is 'expected'.
So IIUC I vote yes! but I reserve the right to change my mind if I test it and it does not work the way I expect, as outlined above

You reserve the right to test all possible scenarios about regression, including MyFilms start settings (config/view/config select on/off, always use on/off, different start views like none, view, film list, film list filtered, etc., hyper link params, calls from/to other plugins, ... ( ... = > 4800 test cases )
Note: When looking at the code, that also removes the features to return to the config selection (if "always view" is selected in setup) and of course the backnavigations from full menu to base menu .... we probably should keep those!?
So I suggest to create an issue, I will create a test binary then with a quick fix to skip all backnavigation code and then we can finally decide !?

It won't let me install it, it give me a dependency error check. Even after I have updated SubCentral, Trakt, OnlineVideos & BrowseTheWeb it still gives me the error. My MediaPortal install is the current stable release.

@Dadeo: MPEmaker removes the <Items> dependency section on building :-( - we had that problem 1 year ago, but I can't remember how we solved it - can you?

He mentioned it - 1.2.3.
I can reproduce the problem here - and it is caused by the MPEmaker removing the above mentioned dependency section

No, it was a plain issue with how you have to have the install so that MPEmaker properly works.
Not talking about MP13/12 compatibility, it is just that the MPEmaker is not creating proper package.
What I have done is moving the dev tree to another drive - everything else is unchanged.
Will check Wiki tonight, if there is a hint ....

Any luck yet @Guzzi? I have tested with MyFilms-V6.0.3.2802-test.mpe1 you posted above and it is working great here, much better imo. But would be nice to get @Two_toNe to test and confirm.

No, wiki just mentiones, that the <Items> section will be checked on saving - which leads in my case to the fact, it is removed and not recreated.
Migue helped me long ago to fix the setup for that, but I forgot :-( - probably will have to debug MPEmaker :-(
