Database Configuration Problem (1 Viewer)

Just installed MP1 and cannot access ANY tv stations/shows, radio stations or movies. I am being asked to config my database and have two choices: MS SQL Server or MySQL.

I have no idea which one to use.

It is also asking me for a User ID and Password. I was never ask to create either so I have no clue what to enter in these boxes.

Any help, instruction links, etc. would be VERY much appeciated.

sounds like you selected to watch HD tv which means you ahve installed the TV-Server component. Have a look at the wiki

TV-Server - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation This should help you out. Even with the Username/Password

I ended up in the same situation. It's not obvious during the setup process that you need to change the SQL configuration - to be honest I was just hitting next whenever it was there.

Looking at the "Installation Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition" page - I don't remember seeing half those screens.

Going back and attempting to reinstall the Microsoft SQL Server manually as described leads to an error "None of the selected features can be installed or upgraded. Setup cannot proceed since no effective change is being made to the machine." It has to be uninstalled then reinstalled to get to the vital screen where you choose to set up a password.

It's not the end of the world, but it seems like a lot of people are going to fall into that trap.
