    Hey guys,

I really love MovingPictures and I think it's one of the greatest MP plugins. So :D devs

Since yesterday I do have a MP testmachine with the latest MP SVN. So I also tried the newest MovingPictures version. I know, that this "problem" is not only the new version.

    The problem:
When database is local and movies are on a network share, the database will be empty, when network share is not ready while starting MP. Even if the network share is available few seconds after the start of MP, nothing will be shown in MovingPictures. Looking at the database file, there are all movies listed.
If the importer is now starting, it deletes the old entries and starts from the beginning. The network share is not changed, it is just not up fast enough. Also the films are not changed.

I will do some more tests to see, if the movies are also lost, if the network share is powered off, while using MP.

If the database is also on the network share, there is no problem.

Is there a possibility to delay the importer at MP start? Could I disable the automatic deleting function of MovingPictures (importing new movies is enabled, but deleting movies without files on harddrive is disabled)?

    :D in advance

That's weird, because I have many movies on a shared network drive as well, which isn't always "on" or available fast enough, and will also dissapear when I reboot that computer, but the MovingPictures plugin doesn't delete/re-add them to the database.

Are you using a mapped drive letter, or are you using the UNC path like me?

Otherwise, switch MediaPortal to debug mode and try to recreate the problem in as few steps as possible, then attach those logs files to this thread, so it is easier to see what exactly is going on. You might have stumbled upon a bug, but it is also possible that it is related to how you set things up.

oh... ok... thx for the answer... there is something i forgot to say... my testmachine is set up with symbolic links inside the movie folder.

i will do some more testing and more logging. i will also try unc paths. that's a thing i forgot to think about. seems like symlinks are handled another way than unc

this is what i found out:

symlinks in a directory -> MovingPictures scans at start of MP and deletes entries in DB when file is not found

unc-path -> seems that MovingPictures recognizes the UNC path und doesn't delete movies in the DB when file not found

is there a possibility to mark a path as removable, like in TVSeries?
