When I change a tag for a mp3-file which is already in my musicdatabase, will MP see this and apply my changes the next time i open "My Music" or do i have to update the database from config?

I am honestly not sure. If you also change the name of the file, MP will definitely apply the changes, but only after you have played the file and thus fed MP with the new tag information. Futhermore, if you have told MP to update only new / changed things, I am not sure that MP will pick up on a tag change. Try it out!

Hwahrmann wrote the "MusicshareWatcher" plugin for that. In addition you can schedule e.g. a nightly DB reorganisation if files might change outside the scope of MediaPortal.

is there anything similar for videos?

so that if a video is deleted, moved, renamed, the database will be updated?

nope. i only did it for Music

    that was my guess hehe

it would not be very easy to do the same with videos, right?

i mean its not a copy paste thing ;)

btw, then how is the database for videos supposed to be kept updated? manually entering configuration each time a new movie is in the folder?

it's not a copy & Paste thingyy, tough the logic for watching the folders is the same. it iust the database updates that needto be modified.

And what to do with Offline media? maybe i'm deleting the movie, but still have it on a DVD?

i think the db should be updated via config, when you add a movie.

But, you're asking the wrong person.
For Movies, i'm an end user like you. not too much inside knowledge.
i have all my movies in folders and search for them via shares.
even if we talk about 100 - 200 movies on a HD, it is quite ok to use the shares view for me, compared to > 100k songs.
