Hi all, I was contemplating upgrading ram. My work pc has 512 and my HTPC 4 gig both 667. I would like atleast a gig in my work pc so was going to buy a $17 1 gig stick of DDR2 800. I have also contemplated using the 4gig from my media pc in my desktop and buying 4 gig of ddr2 800. I won't be recording tv just playing media. I would also like to play some car racing games. Would I notice much of a difference swapping to 800hz ram?
Thanks

    Hi Jonesy_SA

You might get a little difference in memory intensive benchmarks, however in practice I think you'd notice no difference at all... especially considering that you're using a Core2. The more recent Intel processors have very effective and aggressive pre-fetching algorithms that hide the memory latency very well. The biggest difference in memory these days is made by increasing or decreasing the size of memory available. The best thing you could do to improve performance would almost certainly be to get an SSD.
