A few weeks ago, everything was working as it should. I had a bit of a mix (Elecard for MPEG, CoreAVC for HD, AC3 Filter etc...) But it worked.
Now I found that my MKV HD videos would not play any audio anymore, so I decided to throw out all old stuff. Did a complete uninstall of all codecs, MP etc.
Then reinstalled MP in the newest version and SAF 6 ("locked" - whatever that means, and conficured MPs settings according to this thread)
Now TV does not work at all and Videos dont as well...
Log is attached, hope you guys can help me out. I tried to fix this for four hours now and do not want to waste a single minute on this anymore....

I have no clue whatsoever what could be missing or wrong since this is a clean install.

Thanks very much in advance!

    Hi Zuzler

First welcome to the forum :))) and sorry that you're having trouble :)()!
So what are the logs meant to show? All that I can see is MediaPortal starting and then stopping again - you don't seem to try to do anything. I can see a few potential issues in the TV Server logs but other things look like they are working perfectly, so perhaps you have some channels that work and some that do not?

    mm

[Edit: in case you have made a mess of the registry (which could give you codec problems) by the uninstalling and reinstalling, I would run CCleaner and Filmerit]

I spotted nothing regarding MP, but your Application\System eventlogs show a alarming rate of failures regarding various software you have installed.

What I would do, is put a clean system image back

    :sorry::sorry:

    Hi mm,

sorry, here is another log, trying to open a video (mkv). Video is playing, but no sound whatsoever. Also my sound card eq does not show any sound.

No, in MP none of the tv channels is working (basically not even the screen starts and even the menu entry is missing :( )
In the TV server "preview", the sound is working, but I cannot see any video. Also satellite radio is working in the tv server preview.

So the biggest problems right now are:

    - TV: no menu entry TV, no picture, no sound in MP (just sound in TV server preview)
    - Video: no sound
    - Remote: I have a Logitech harmony, combined with eventghost. Does not do anything after the clean install when MP is opened.

And I don't want to spend much time on this right now as I have to study quite a lot in the next few weeks (but still don't want to miss my TV in the evening)

EDIT: I already uninstalled all the useless codecs and ran CCleaner over it. And as just mentioned, I am lacking time to do a fresh setuo of the whole system. What seems to be the biggest problem? I mean, a month ago it all was working quite well...

Okay, looking at the new logs.

    - TV: no menu entry TV, no picture, no sound in MP (just sound in TV server preview)
This is because you haven't configured the TV Server location in MP configuration. You need to set the hostname in the TV section of MediaPortal configuration as shown in our wiki -->here<--. That should get TV mostly working. :)

Oh god, the TV section is completely missing in the MP config.
I think I'll have to go get some sleep before I go insane here...

Okay, I think what has happened is that MP was uninstalled but TV Server was not, and then the TV plugin was not installed when you reinstalled MP. Take the attached TvPlugin.dll and put it in the plugins\Windows subdirectory of your MediaPortal install folder. If there is already a TvPlugin there then make sure you have enabled the TV plugin in MediaPortal configuration.

Fuller answers this time after looking at the logs...

sorry, here is another log, trying to open a video (mkv). Video is playing, but no sound whatsoever. Also my sound card eq does not show any sound.
I don't see any problem in the logs. Does the menu sound in MP work (like as you move from item to item)? If not, check the volume levels for MediaPortal in your Windows sound control. Also try pressing the m key in MediaPortal to toggle mute on/off. Otherwise, I would install AC3Filter or the FFDShow audio codec.

No, in MP none of the tv channels is working (basically not even the screen starts and even the menu entry is missing :( )
Okay so the menu entry is missing because the TV plugin is missing. That is because your uninstall then reinstall did not go well. If you don't have time to do a complete reinstall then take the TV plugin DLL that I supplied. Otherwise, I'd recommend stopping the TV service and doing another uninstall then reinstall.

In the TV server "preview", the sound is working, but I cannot see any video.
TV Server preview doesn't use the codecs that you specify in MediaPortal configuration. If you think about it, that makes sense because the TV Server might be on a different computer to MediaPortal. To fix this, use Filmerit to increase the merit of your preferred video codecs.

Remote: I have a Logitech harmony, combined with eventghost. Does not do anything after the clean install when MP is opened.
Do you see the events being picked up in EventGhost?

Sooo, I decided to go for the full clean setup, starting tonight. I think this saves me more time that sorting out all the problems.
I hope that all the problems will be gone then.

The issue with eventghost is, that it picks up the signals and starts MP. But then, it still says "not started" when I press a button, even though MP is running.
Hopefully this issue is gone as well with the clean install.

What am I allowed to backup (channels, eventgost file etc) without corrupting the new installation right away? (btw: did I already mention I like this forum mainly for its great support? :) )

    Hi,

and maybe dont try SAF. After installing it, nothing worked.

Just take the Win7 codecs. Install HaaliMedia Splitter and ure good to go.
