Yeah, that would have been my next question.
Are the Win7 Codecs good enough?

What I want to be able to play:
- TV in SD (had elecard before)
- TV in HD (with CoreAVC)
- Videos in HD, MKV and AC3/DTS (with CoreAVC and AC3 Filter)
- Satellite Radio (with AC3 Filter)

so would it be enough to install HaaliMedia Splitter and AC3 Filter to keep everything moving and without interlacing problems?

    Hi again

What am I allowed to backup (channels, eventgost file etc) without corrupting the new installation right away? (btw: did I already mention I like this forum mainly for its great support? :) )
You could definitely backup the EventGhost config. Personally I would completely rescan my channels, however you probably have access to more channels than me so it would be more time consuming.

@sloty32: Remember that the Microsoft audio codec doesn't support DD or DD+ in 3rd party applications like MP. That would be unsuitable for some people...

    Edit:
so would it be enough to install HaaliMedia Splitter and AC3 Filter to keep everything moving and without interlacing problems?
That would be a great start if you ask me, but I'm not a codec expert like Hoborg. I use AC3Filter with the PDVD codec and it works nicely. :)

Well, then I'll just give it a shot. Will keep you updated when "project mammoth" will be started in the evening :)

Necessary :) Or as a nice negated adverb - unnecessarily :D
I thought the AC3 filter is mandatory, otherwise you can't get any 5.1 sound out of the player with MKV files and AC3/DTS/whatsoever sound format may be in there. At least that was my understanding of that program.

Your understanding is the same as mind - that is why I use it. It supports MPEG 1, MPEG 2, AC3, and DTS audio. :)

Well, SAF seems quite bugged as far as I can read in the thread. Out of sync errors and many more.
An with the Haali Splitter I never had any problems so far. Maybe I'll also grab a version of PowerDVD to get the rest flowing.

I tried SAF6 Unlocked and had to go back to SAF5 unlocked, because nothing was working anymore for playback of most of my videos/streaming video.
Now everything is back to noRmAL.

Try SAF5 unlocked, Good Luck. :)

Well, I'll now try a combination of AC3 Filter, Haali Splitter and Power DVD.
Status Update: (Re-)Installing Windows 7 with all the updates. Coming up next: Creating a full system backup and installing MP :)
