Deinterlacing on PC or AV-Receiver/TV (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know what the better solotion for deinterlacing is : PC or AV-Receiver/TV

If the answer is AV-Receiver/TV then how can i disable deinterlacing on the PC.
For example i am using Cyberlink codecs which seem to deinterlace anyway (can't deactivate it the codec settings)
Is there a way to find out if the picture whih my PC sends via HDMI to the AV-Receiver/TV is interlaced or not?

2) you need to use interlaced screen mode (like 1080i 25Hz)

In theory that should pass the interlaced content to the HDMI output, but not sure how well current GPUs are handling that situation.

1) -> so no chance with PowerDVD codecs

Depends highly on the AV-Receiver/TV you have. Most likely it wont be any better than the todays GPUs pixel adaptive deinterlacing algorithms.

This might be, but again, what do the PowerDVD codecs do? In the coec settings are: AUTOSELECT, BOB or WEAVE
BTW i know i can set adaptive deinterlacing in the ATI driver settings but not with NVIDIA, or?

i use ati 50 hz and full hd resolution + pdv9 codec do sd and hd -> tv always show 1080p -> works perfect.
pc does not only deinterlace - it also upscale to full hd. (i think it does a better job than some hd tv sender...)
my receiver can not do better (yamaha rxv-2700)...

I know that this thread is quite old, but anyway I'm interested in this topic.

I have a Mitsubishi HC6000 which has a quite good scaling-/deinterlacing-unit and wondered if it is possible to output video "as it is", that means without any scaling or deinterlacing, but just decoding. HTPC and projector are connected via HDMI.

Does anyone have experience on that topic or does anyone have an idea if and how this could work?
