My HTPC has a wired ethernet connection to a Mac and the Mac HD is mounted as a network drive on the HTPC using the built in SMB sharing of Mac OS X. Any video files that play from this share has a wait time, almost as if MP is buffering the data. The wait time is directly related to the length of the video, so a five minute video only takes a few seconds to start playing, a 40 minute video might take a full 2 or 3 minutes to start playing, and a full length film takes longer than I've ever been willing to wait it out.
I see people talk about using network drives all the time in these forums, so certainly this can't be the norm. Am I missing something?
Thanks for any advice.
