I am wondering if you *borrowed the Fan Art idea from the CenterStage project? It seems they debuted the idea long before you guys?

Check out the Demo and the very bottom item on the page: http://www.centerstageproject.com/the-future.php

I know when the Demo went online at CenterStage a few of your members liked the idea, it seems it resonated with you to include it as part of your feature set?: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/..._mp-t24066.html?t=24066&highlight=CenterStage

Are you going to be working together to provide a good resource of Fan Art to your community and would you like actually co-operate on this?

If you would like to discuss any ideas found on the CenterStage project such as the Fan Art idea, talk about UI concepts and design work, co-operate in areas that are mutually beneficial or just have a 'natter' about HTPC then please send me an email via this form: http://centerstageproject.com/contact.php?to=david

I am a pretty open guy and would have loved to have discussed the Fan Art implementation with you, be it for a Mac media center or a Windows one. To be honest, I was a bit shocked to come across it today. I spent a while putting together that Demo and coming up with the concept and I would have liked to have had the chance to talk to you about it and work cross platform on the ideas (be it original or not).

If you guys need some graphic design assistance then I am also up or the challenge of that as well. I would much rather see my work go somewhere other than a Demo concept online at CenterStage. just talk to me if you like...

Cheers!

Just to let you know, fan art is part of a specific plugin that is not developed by the mediaportal development team.

Woah! take it easy, there isn't any sarcasm at all?
I just would have liked to discuss the implementation of it so both projects could benefit.

Please direct me to the correct source sir, sorry for posting in the wrong forum but there are so many. Unfortunately I don't quiet have the time it takes to do a full read through of the entire project and see what is what or who is working on what aspects.

I have also sent an email via the contact form...hopefully that is an ok thing to do as well?

jburnette, no need to get itchy here. I guess Mucx simply asked a question and even asked if a co-operation is likely. I have to say that I personally didnt use TV Series plugin and fan art feature, but I very much like the idea and concept overall.

Me personally especially very much likes the style of Mucx's project, so If you're willing to assist on GFX-Stuff, thats always great! We could need such talented designers very much!

Maybe you have the time to come over to our IRC, and meet up with some of our team to discuss this further?

    Regards

    Hi,

As far as I know, "Fanart" is currently only implemented in the TV-Series plugin for Mediaportal and of course all code and fanart images themselves are created by the users here. We also have a server provided by one of our members here that hosts the fanart (but its all manual) and provides regular distribution via torrents of complete packs.

Someone approuched me a while back with such a concept and a few mockups (I would have to search for the thread to know more details) and since I liked the idea I implemented it (its actually just an afterhack into the plugin). It could very well be that those we're your concept (although I think it was a custom mockup for MP) or that they were inspired by seeing yours. I'm sorry you were shocked, instead you should be proud your idea is so well received.

I'm open to any form of cooperation, wether it was your idea orginally or not, but what do you have in mind? An online resource that implements interfaces to automatically download fanart images? FYI thetvdb.com (which the plugin gets its info from) is also considering hosting Fanart, together with appropriate interfaces, in the near future. Perhaps you would like to talk to them about this?

Or are you thinking about something else?

Edit: Wow, busy thread, 5 responses while I was typing this ;-)

Don't think you own the right to place images as backgrounds...

I'm not talking about ownership at all.
I'm talking about it would have been nice to talk about the concept with 'you guys' and to co-operate between the two projects. The delivery method, the background artwork, orientation and positioning and even the delivery method could have been setup in a such a way that it would be beneficial to both projects.

I liked the idea on our project, it is a cool idea and I am proud to see it being used in another project...it may or may not be an original idea from myself and even if it was so what. I jsut wish that maybe we or whoever was involved with it could have emailed us through at our site and we could have worked out a solution, even hosting and delivery for the Fan Art concept for both projects to REALLY take advantage of.

I agree it is 'neat'...just seems like an opportunity lost.

Anyway, maybe I stepped on a Lego this morning as well!?
If there are graphic design areas, cross platform co-operation that might be beneficial to you guys just give me a call!

Ah! TVDB.com is looking to add Fan Art to their database?
now that could be a good thing to get in on.
