Hi Im looking to improve my listening experience as I find my current set up pretty flat sounding at low levels.
I have had my MB audio out plugged directly into my power amp for years, but have just found out this is a Bad Idea. Apparently if you use digital volume control it seriously effects the overall dynamic range of the output because of the way volume control works on the digital side. This necessitates the purchase of either a pre-amp or a DAC, neither of which are terribly cheap. Seems like a lot of money to splash out just for a blimmin volume knob?
Can anyone confirm? Have posted in the main area cos this is potentially pretty big issue as I imagine most people use windows volume control rather than on their integrated amp or whatever?
