First try, without further tests: works like a charm! Whole MyPictures more snappy and reactive now! Thanks a lot!

Sorry, totally forgotten about this. I did not see any regression. For my usage its perfect to have the ability to disable the creation of thumbs since I have directories with a huge amount of files. And if there the thumb-generation kicks in, MP gets totally unresponsive for me.
