What the hell does this have to do with me being American? Don't you have some sheep to "tend" to?

Two things:

1) we don't have any developers on NA - so the tv side is just done blindly for ATSC
2) michael moore might have been right

first, let me assure you that MM IS right. He might have a strange way to tell his stories but he definately has his stuff right.

Second, i second the opinion from the other US member here that not ALL Americans are from the sort like the opener. But we have to understand it, people with his mindset are simply entitled to get support. Without going too deep into politics, after all that's not a political board here, LOL, his hate towards MM clearly shows his position.
Back to topic, i have had my problems with Mepo over the years too, sometimes it was really frustrating to work with it, BUT nobody is sitting here with a gun and forces me to use it.
On a more personal note, the opener should not let the door hit his ... on his way out.
So, i'm done, LOL.

Trying to point you in the right direction seems to be a very difficult task, really do not want to go in heavy handed, but if you continue, then it is a forgone conclusion.

Going on two years for me. Server and main HTPC are both using 45 watt $85 AMD cpu's and $100 motherboards. Server acts as my dumping ground as well.
Main PC has an ATI 4670 (1080p at about %5 CPU) that I got for $68 (Canadian on sale) HDMI to TV running Win 7.
I use this for SAT (legally by the way) and Movies and it works great so far. Few teething pains at the beginning but all is well now.
If you are using it for SAT in NA I would use the Nova-S card. Seems the most stable for me on Win 7. Tried Twinhan and Technisat. Drivers acted up alot and that would cause the back end to hickup alot. Since I switched to Hauppauge it has been great. Maybe not the best card but they work flawlessly in my setup. (Plus I got two for less than $100 brand new)

So all in all I have not spent a fortune and the hardware is not even kickass but it works great.
Could build a quad core box but why. I use this for TV and not video production. Heavy work gets done elseware and it would be overkill for just a HTPC.

Only three codecs (one is MS's built in) on my main machine and not much else. This is all I use for TV. Keep it simple and clean.

With the Harmony remote even the girlfriend likes it.

I can understand your frustration, unlike XBMC, most Americans seem to stear clear of us Dev wise, why, they can only help make things better, this project tries to support worldwide systems, but it does need worldwide support, remember everything here is donated free by people in there spare time, which from my point of view, is a hell of a lot.

Well, in the opposite to the opener who COULD help but doesn't want to, i would if i could.
My only help was a couple years back helping Patrick to test the Directv serial plugin ( which is dead for ages ) so you should be carefull what you're asking for.
