I'm not very knowledgeable enough in regards to aspect ratio to deal with a problem I have. There are a couple channels I watch, for instance the DIY Network, that are not available to me in HD. I have to settle with recording the SD version. I record using two Hauppauge Colossus cards, and with these every channel is recorded at 1920x1080, no matter what the actual size of the channel is. Content from this channel is displayed as a small box surrounded by black bars. I've tried using ViewModeSwitcher so I could just let a plugin deal with it, but it's failing me right now, and I'm not sure how to fix it myself. So my question is, how do I make MP handle content that isn't HD when the video's size is? Thank you very much in advance for any help anyone may offer.

have you tried to open the action menu while the recording is played?
To open it press F9 on your keyboard.
There you can choose how the picture is shown. normal/stretched ect.
