Sounds again like that divx systray utility would be playing its tricks with MP (stealing focus). Try disabling it. Nothing else we can do about badly behaving codecs (codecs shouldn't in the first place even have any tray icons :)).

    It doens't work.

But worst when I uninstall Divx 7 also the reclock icon in the systray put MP out of focus during play. I use new reclock since 4-5 month. Always it work fine .

I use the restore point features of Vista to solve..
Divx create a restore point before its installation. only good news tonight..

for me Divx 7 was very dangerous for MP.
(note: with vmr9 exclusive mode MP send to the tray icon and expose desktop, with evr the tool bar bring to front and send to back the MP renderer)

Ran Divx7 for the last 24 hours without problems, just untick everything in the divx manager when it loads and it does not appear again.

Definately has lower cpu use than FFDShow with HD, ie 20% against 30%, nice picture too.

I try agan but does not work. maybe the problem it's Windows Vista.
I tried to install only divx 6.8.5 codec and h.264 . I had unckecked every option in divx manager (the tray icon access program).

I tried to install only ax filter and the divx.dll file. but no result. MP also with its h.264 codec after few seconds become minimized. with vmr9 exclusive mode, with evr don't minimize but the windows tool bar bring itself to the front.

Weird, because none of that happening here, have you had any focus issues at all.

The only thing i am using is MPTrayMod to start MP and i know it forces regain focus, but cannot even see any of the desktop at any time when switching video or screens.

In fact not using any always on top setting at all

    I've found a solution.

    DivXsm.exe it's the setting manager.

it's located in windows\system32 folder and it's used by Decoder Configuration Utility
    in ..\divx folder ("\Program Files\DivX\DivX Codec\config.exe") for configuration purpose.

but become visibile in the tray icon.

    I renamed the DivXsm.exe to a fake file DivXsm____.exe

configuration doen't work anymore but when start a file no icon appear and MP do not loose it
    focus.

I don't like that stuff but it work... :)

Also uninstalled this, after i found loads of family video's will no longer play with the divx codec installed.

So as much as i was impressed with the lower cpu, not being able to play files is a no go :(
