Do not understand XMLTV (1 Viewer)

Now I really feel like a dummy!! I have been reading earlier post regarding how too set up the XMLTV (for the EPG), but I just don’t understand it, and now I am seeking help from you people.

The mediaportal is up and running (I am impressed with it!). I have downloaded the xmltv-0.5.42-win32 file from here; http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=39046 But then I am stuck.

The Mediaportal already has the files in it (under the file XMLTV), so I don’t understand way I must install this new file from the site mentioned above. I have also red an older “for dummies†explanation; but in my download there is no exe file…???
I have also downloaded o2grabber1_0_9, but how do I install it (I understand it has the same function as XMLTV, just wanted too look at it to see if it was easier).


Please help an newbie/dummy; this was frustration (cus I have tried so long now to understand this!).

The biggest problem for me is the language; so dont flame me to much(I understand the quastion above is lame)...

Check out this thread for info about o2grabber. I use it and think it's easier and more stable. I never got XMLTV to work 100%...but then again that is likely to do with me

Any of you guys try WebEPG ( http://mypage.bluewin.ch/webepg/index.html )? I'm using it at the moment and it's nice and simple (just like me!). I've used XMLTV in past, but it's a real pain when you loose configuration and have to type in channels.

I've also used Alan Birtles XMLTV GUI ( http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/ ). Again, a nice program, but I find WebEPG easier to use.
