My interest in football is somewhere between zero and zero with the ring removed. MP2 on the other hand is very keen to watch the AFL. Today for the second time it is recording the AFL without my permission. I can cancel the recording and when I look back to the guide there it is flagged in red and being recorded again. This has to rate as the weirdest bug in my history of computing.

How the hell is this happening? What is the file where this recording schedule is held? Is it possible that something in the program data is causing this insistence on recording. Or has MP2 developed a unique sense of artificial intelligence and become football obsessed?

Somewhat amused but mostly annoyed.

Most common cause is that you have a kind of series schedule (i.e. record weekly at this time). For this kind of schedule only the actual channel and time is considered, not the title of a program.

I.e. I do record "Tatort" every sunday 20:15, but if the program changes, it will be still recorded.

Logs... I have a feeling you aren't going to see much in the logs but have a go. It's pretty weird that only one TV program gets such a result.

I don't have it scheduled to record at all. At least not in the interface. There was an old program schedule but it wasn't for the football. Are we saying that MP2 doesn't look at the name of the program when checking the recording seclude?

Which is OK but I would have thought not ideal.

First we talk MediaPortal in general. And once scheduled MP (both 1 and 2) will just start recording regardless of what has in the meantime happened. So if you scheduled a recording for once a week at a certain time, it will continue to record forever until you delete it.

Open TV Server configuration, look at what is scheduled on the respective tab and delete what you don't like.

I accept that this is what happens. That the schedule is the schedule regardless of if the program exists.

But consider it from a user perspective.

1. A program is recorded which the user had no interest in.
2. The user clicks the schedule and requests it is not recorded.
3. The user attempts to record or watch a program and nothing happens. There is no warning message that I have seen when all the tuners are occupied.
4. You look in the schedule and the name of the program doesn't exist.

Now I'm not an idiot and have been using computers since punch tape yet I needed to come here to ask about this.

I'm on your side here... I'd love to see this program win hands down and have a market share of 1 billion users.

What I see were that the case is a heap of support requests because the interface is lacking. The issues I see are all coming from the default 'skin'. This belongs with those issues IMO.

I certainly consider the user perspective.

In your particular case it appears that you scheduled a fixed recording (i.e. fixed time for a channel). As it is not clear how you defined the recording schedule, I can't really judge if this is a mal-function or not. If the schedule was for a specific show, it won't record anything when new EPG data beyond the initial timeframe is no longer containing the show. It will record though if you scheduled a fixed time rather than a show name.

Mmh, I have four tuners and therefore can't really run out of them. Notwithstanding, a recording indicator is on the ToDo list and will be part of the next release.

So what you are saying is that in your case the system is using all your tuners to record and when you try to switch on Live TV nothing is happening? There must be some kind of message, at least an error message.

The issues I see are all coming from the default 'skin'.

No they are technical based and not related to the skin at all... Try a different skin and you will get exactly the same issues.

But there isn't. Nothing, nada, niente, absolutely no notice about this. One of a few issues that are really nasty in daily usage. I've mentioned this (and a few others) already in the internal forums a while ago. Something we need to work on soon.
