But in theory it is there. And about the volume thing. If one uses SPDIF passthrough for AC3/DTS, this means Windows doesnt touch the audio stream. Its just simple, what comes in must go out. (which I find very good, because windows always finds a way to mess things up for me). That is the reason the volume cant be changed as well. I just change the volume of the receiver. This is very easy for me to do, because I use a Logitech Harmony remote. It is programmable to simulate any remote you have (nearly). I have set it up as a standard MCE remote, with the exception of the volume. The volume commands are customized and come from the receiver remote.I also like to play Super audio cd's, DTS cd's or FLAC files. This is a high quality audio stream and it is being decoded by my receiver. The result for me if I let windows touch the audio stream (by not using ASIO audio drivers) I dont hear anything. Same reason as described before, this is becaus windows touches the audiosignal and makes it total rubbish for my receiver. It doesnt understand the signal anymore. Result is sometimes silence, or a very LOUD white noise/static.
